After discussing with Vanessa I have decided to shift the focus of my manifesto (fanifesto)
before I was focusing on promoting positivity, which is something I'm passionate about, but it is not very specific and it is difficult to nail down a 'call to action'
So now I am focusing on the fan works that change media to better represent themselves or other groups. Fan works often change the gender, sexuality or ethnicity of characters to add diversity that is often lacking in the work.
My essay was written for an outsider to fandom culture so I included a lot of background information but manifesto will be for fans. It will definitely be a call to action. Stop passively accepting media laced with white-washed, hetero-normative, sexist content and fight back. Change it. Make it your own
My manifestation will still be a jigsaw puzzle but I will include pictures of fan art where the content has been altered and diversified.
